SHEIKHUPURA: Three persons died, two of them brothers, while five others fainted allegedly after drinking tainted liquor at Noor Shah village near Burj Attari on Wednesday.

According to police, a group of eight friends drank home-made (desi) liquor.

Soon after, all of them fell unconscious and were shifted to hospital, where Afzaal, Shabbir (brothers) and Hanif Masih were pronounced dead by the doctors.

The condition of five others is stated to be stable.

Factory Area police registered a case against three suspects -- Rafiq, Rasheed and Rizwan -- who had allegedly manufactured the liquor.

Tehsil Ferozewala and Sharqpur area are notorious for illegal manufacturing of cheap liquor allegedly under local police patronage.
