Pakistani student to receive Queen's Young Leaders Award

Syed Faizan Hussain, one of the winners of Queen's Young Leader Award 2017, is a Pakistani student who used his knowledge in technology to create solutions within our community.

During his time with the Saylani Welfare Trust, Hussain mentored over 200 students from underprivileged backgrounds, according to his profile on the Queen's Leadership Award website.

He has also developed a number of startups, including Edu-Aid, an app that translates sign language into spoken language and OneHealth, a disease surveillance and tracking system which notifies health institutions about epidemic outbreaks.

The young entrepreneur is currently looking to develop Venture Dart, a technology consultant and outsourcing company for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

The Queen's Young Leaders is an annual award that recognises young leadership potential in people between the ages of 18-29 from the Commonwealth of Nations. The program was established by the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, in partnership with Comic Relief and the Royal Commonwealth Society in 2014.

@asif If he didnt have Queen's blessings you would not have even known who he is? We prefer to be honored by 'others' before we honor them. NFAK was singing for years. Only became an icon once he was recognised by the West - same goes for Junoon when they became popular in India. On Ayyans Ali didnt need any 'foreign hand' to become famous

@Dr Riffat Jabeen : I agree with you Dr Riffat but the reason we do not have such programs at home because our corrupt government is not education friendly and they only understand one thing that is how to loot the country and fill their offshore accounts. Otherwise, we have no shortage of brain in this country and we can build our own Silicon Valley if few good brains come together to support our young generations who are full of ideas. It comes down to one thing "leadership" and "Vision"

God bless this chap. Sometimes I think it ain't the gravitational , centrifugal , centripetal or cosmic forces that keeps the earth moving on. It's guys like him ! We have a couple of such young promising lads back home at India as well. The things we all could achieve if proper focus was given to education the way it ought to be.

What ironic is, now that he has won the award, pakistani will recognize him and say because of the country he has won it. In reality, he may have never helped by anyone and its his persistence and hard work that paid off today and before when he won other awards and grants. If Pakistanis are willing to be proud by his name, why not they finance him for his projects or for his further studies abroad? Well done my friend, I always believed in you!
