Five killed in road mishaps

MINGORA/BATKHELA: Three people of a family died after they were hit by a speeding car in Sangota area of Mingora, while two students lost their lives in a similar mishap in Jalala area of Batkhela on Thursday.

According to Sangota police, the car went out of control of the driver and hit several people who were walking along the road in Sangota.

A police official said that the family was going to attend a wedding ceremony when all of a sudden the car hit them, leaving three people dead on the spot. They included a woman identified as Shagufta, her four-year-old son Zeeshan and mother. He said that five other people were also injured in the crash.

The injured were taken to the Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, two school students were killed and four others wounded when a truck ran over them on Swat road at Jalala, Malakand protected area, on Thursday.

A speeding truck (RIS-658) hit the school students when they were going home from school. As a result, grade 8th students Umar Rehman and Yasar were killed and Bilal, Owais, Tanveer and Kamran suffered injuries. The injured were taken to the civil hospital, Thana town.

Levies force personnel have arrested the driver, identified as Shafiq.
