RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government on Sunday gave renowned Pakistani mountaineer Hassan Sadpara Rs2.5 million for medical treatment.

Hassan Asad, also known as Hassan Sadpara is a world renowned mountaineer from the Sadpara Village of Gilgit-Baltistan and is the first Pakistani to have climbed Mount Everest, K-2 and other mountains.

He was suffering from multiple diseases and was brought to a private hospital in Rawalpindi, from where he was moved to the Combined Military Hospital for treatment on the directives of the prime minister.

On behalf of the Punjab chief minister, District Coordination Officer Talat Mehmood Gondal on Sunday handed over a cheque to Abid Hassan who is the son of Hassan Sadpara.

The chief minister wished the mountaineer an early recovery and said he is proud of national heroes who win laurels for Pakistan with their outstanding performance.
