Following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers after Islamabad police stormed the party’s youth convention, politicians expressed their views regarding the development.

Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahir-ul-Qadri while commenting on the arrest of PTI workers said, "The government’s behaviour is anti-democracy and against the constitution. Government should tackle this issue with courage and grace."

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Saeed Ghani condemned the arrest of the PTI workers and termed the incident as 'police gardi'.

Ghani in his tweet said, "Today's activities of PTI workers are within lawful limits."

PPP MNA Nafisa Shah, in her tweet questioning the strategy of the government, said "Police crackdown on political workers of PTI was uncalled for. #PMLNGovt getting desperate?"

PPP leader Rehman Malik termed the incident as "unfortunate".

Muttahida Qaumi Movement MNA Ali Raza Abidi also expressed his concerns over the arrest of PTI workers.

PTI leader Shireen Mazari alleged in her tweet that the police had attacked, abused and dragged female workers of PTI.

"Govt has lost all senses. Disrupts & arrests people at our youth convention which was inside a hall. Police also attacked, abused, dragged our women," she said.

Maryam Nawaz, however, in a veiled reference to PTI's protest termed it "Fitna"
