Nigeria to buy 10 trainer aircraft from Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday signed an agreement for the sale of 10 Super Mushshak aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) announced here on Friday.

“The contract signing ceremony was held at Abuja (Nigeria) where Air Vice Marshal Iya Ahmed Abdullahi and Air Marshal Arshad Malik, Chairman of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), signed the contract,” PAF spokesman Air Commodore Syed Mohammad Ali said.

The contract includes operational training and technical support and assistance to the NAF. The Pakistan Air Force would completely establish this facility in the shortest possible time, he said.

The contract will not only open new vistas for export of aviation equipment to foreign countries but also help generate revenue for the country.

The aircraft is already in service with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and South Africa.

The deal strengthens PAC’s status as a world class aviation industry producing the supersonic JF-17 Thunder and Super Mushshak trainer aircraft.

Excellent, Pakistan always has produced high quality and competitive products. Since the Independence Pakistan had a open Market policy, Pakistani Products had compete with Chinese, German, Japanese, and Later Taiwanese products. So people who are a little shaky about CPEC that it will kill Pakistani Industry are wrong because Chinese Products have always be around in Pakistan.

LVP - The Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) also known as the Dhruv.... "Following the crash of one of the Dhruvs in October 2009, Ecuador reportedly considered returning their six helicopters to HAL amid claims of being unfit for service;EAF commander Genl. Rodrigo Bohorquez stated "If it is a major problem that can't be easily remedied, we would have to return [the Dhruv]." HAL assisted the crash investigation, which found the cause to be pilot error. In February 2011, the EAF were reported to be satisfied with the Dhruv's performance and was considering further orders. By October 2015, a total of four Ecuadorian Dhruvs had crashed reportedly due to mechanical equipment and Ecuador grounded the type. In October 2015 Ecuador cancelled the contract and withdrew the surviving helicopters from service, non-delivery of parts and high accident rate were cited.

@Slider , your comment "Only Nigeria will buy such aircrafts" indicates that you either did not read the story or your comprehension slid to zero after reading it. Clearly mentioned is the FACT that the Super Mushshak is already in service in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and South Africa. Also, immediately following the story are two separate story blurbs that say the trainer has been bought by Qatar, and Turkey is to follow.

Super Mushshak is an excellent trainer so Nigeria's decision to buy it is no surprise. JF-17 Thunder is also an excellent multi-role aircraft at a fraction of the cost of similar aircraft. Several air forces in Asia, Africa and Middle East have been interested, yet the sales have been stopped by India's diplomatic and economic pressure on those countries. Sri Lankan Air Force wanted a dozen JF-17s, but gave in to Indian threats. PM Nawaz Sharif should demand PM Modi stop such pettiness to hurt Pakistan.

Good News and Congratulations to PAC! Super Mashak has all the potential to be an ideal and affordable basic training aircraft for training young cadets/pilots. Pakistan should look for more sales in other big countries in Africa, particularly Algeria, Morocco, Egypt and Zimbabwe!
