PESHAWAR: Jamaat-i-Islami has claimed that it will bring around 50,000 women workers to the party’s two-day congregation starting in Nowshera from Saturday.

JI general secretary Liaqat Baloch said at a press conference here on Wednesday that for the first time in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such a large number of women would attend a congregation. He said that arrangements had been finalised for the gathering in Azakhel, where a mobile hospital and a play land had also been set up.

JI workers, including women, from KP and tribal area will attend the congregation, which will also be addressed by party chief Senator Sirajul Haq and other central leaders.

Organisers claimed that around half a million people would attend the congregation, and 200,000 people would be provided accommodation. They said religious minorities would also participate in the congregation.

Mr Baloch said the party would give a roadmap for eradication of ideological and financial corruption from society. He said the JI wanted to end status quo and expose those supporting the outdated system. He said political parties were being run like family affairs.

The JI leader said despite rich natural resources and tremendous potential Pakistan could not progress because of corruption and lack of accountability. He said the JI would continue struggle against social and economic injustices.
