LAKKI MARWAT: The deputy commissioner has directed the local women education officer to submit a report within three days about the measures taken to reopen the closed schools and action against the teachers not attending to their duties.

He also expressed dismay over increasing number of non-functional girls’ schools in the district.

Deputy commissioner Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan issued the orders at a meeting of the district steering committee on Tuesday.

District monitoring officer Amjad Meraj, assistant commissioner Aun Haider Gondal, district finance officer Muhammad Tahir Khan, DEOs Haziqur Rehman and Sabira Parveen, DDEO Mohammad Sheraz and SDEO Ikramullah Khan were in attendance.

The district monitoring officer presented a briefing on closed and non-functional schools and absenteeism of teaching and non-teaching staff.

The meeting also discussed actions taken so far in the light of the decisions of the steering committee.

The deputy commissioner directed the district education officer for women, Sabira Parveen, to initiate disciplinary action against negligent teachers and other employees of the department.

He also directed the education department to direct school heads to avoid closing their institutions before official timings.

GAS FACILITY: A delegation of JUI-F called on SNGPL general manager in Peshawar and informed him about the problems being faced by the residents of Lakki Marwat in the absence of natural gas connections.

JUI-F district general secretary Maulana Samiullah Mujahid told journalists that the delegation requested the SNGPL general manager to approve gas pipeline for Lakki city and surrounding rural localities.

“The SNGPL officer was also told that some parts of Lakki and Naurang towns have been provided with natural gas but residents of many areas were still without the facility,” he maintained.

The JUI-F leader said that the SNGPL officer assured provision of gas facility to the remaining areas of the district.

He said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was striving to provide natural gas facility to all urban and rural localities of the district.

On the request of JUI-F chief, the authorities have approved spreading 10km long pipeline in Lakki city to provide gas to parts of urban area,” he claimed. He added a survey would be conducted in rural localities to prepare a feasibility report for laying gas pipeline.
