Abb Takk host Sana Faisal 'poisoned by fan'

KARACHI: A television host on local news channel Abb Takk was allegedly poisoned by a fan on Sunday.

Sana Faisal, the host of Abb Takk's 'Khufia' programme, was allegedly approached by a minor 'fan' on Sunday, Abb Takk sources told DawnNews.

The 'fan' asked the host for a selfie and an autograph, after which he gave her an icecream, the sources informed.

Sana ate the icecream and was hospitalised Sunday night, Ali said. The TV host was admitted to Ziauddin Hospital and is in stable condition, he added.

Station House Officer Hyderi Market Zulfiqar told Dawn that a First Information Report has been registered regarding the case.

The SHO said Sana Faisal went to Peshawari Icecream in North Nazimabad with her husband on Sunday night. A 14-15 year old boy gave her icecream after taking a selfie with her, the SHO said.

When she was on her way home after eating the icecream, she began feeling ill and was taken to the hospital.

The SHO said that Sana Faisal's statement was recorded at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she was shifted from Ziauddin Hospital.

What an illogical claim by the ill fated host. It could have been that the boy gave her a normal (un tampered) ice cream , and after falling ill she thinks its him to blame. And if the poor boy is innocent yet caught , then he is in big trouble for doing nothing.

She may have got food poisoning which can happen to anyone eating food in public places. Given sindh and punjabs corruption scandals, I would not be surprised if ice cream had chemicals in it and was not made with real milk.

I saw in Pakistan TV some channel I don't know the name ,they exposed so many illegal things , once it was doctor, juice making factory, bakery every one using sub standard products not at all clean surrounding & in such program I found they got angry & naturally this may be the result at the end

Its written that she went to an ice cream parlor herself. How can she be so sure that it was the boy's ice-cream that caused it. Has the sample been tested? It could be the ice-cream she took herself that caused it or a simple food poisoning case from something she ate earlier.

If the youngster had brought ice cream from home, it can be claimed that it was poisoned. Otherwise, chances are something was adulterated at the ice cream joint itself.

The doctors's report should be made public as to what exactly caused her condition to detriorate to this extent, As this may be a precondition of the patient and the ice cream just caused the condition to worsen. It's inconceivable that a minor fan had planned out all of this

Our Sherlock Holmes of the police department must look in to the factor of food adulteration and food poisoning by the manufacturer. While it is easy to blame the minor fan who must have gone unrecognized. It will be tiring for the investigators to involve the health department and to check ice cream samples of the maker. An inquiry in to how many other people reported sick after eating from the same place should also be conducted. It is very common in our country to sell adulterated and infected food items as there is little or no check on such malice.
