PESHAWAR: The lawyers’ community on Friday observed province-wide strike against the killing of an office-bearer of Malgaray Wakeelan, a lawyers’ forum affiliated with Awami National Party, and his brother by their rivals and demanded of the government to arrest the culprits.

The lawyers observed boycott of all the courts on the call of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and they mostly stayed away from court proceedings.

Advocate Ajmal Lateef, who was district general secretary of Malgaray Wakeelan, and his brother, Atif, were killed Thursday night in Peshawar. Police claimed that they were killed because of some property dispute.

A joint condolence meeting of KP Bar Council, Peshawar High Court Bar Association and Peshawar District Bar Association was also held which offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed to Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace.

The meeting was attended among others by bar council’ s vice-chairman Tariq Khan Afridi, PHCBA president Muzamil Khan and PDBA president Amjid Ali Marwat. The meeting condemned the occurrence and demanded early arrest of the attackers.
