LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on Thursday received the tree transplanting machine and operating truck it imported from the US and Sweden.

The main purpose of the imported paraphernalia is to shift and transplant grown-up trees to suitable places after uprooting them safely in case of launching any project in the public interest.

According to a spokesman, the PHA administration and foreign experts provided training to the PHA field staff for operating the tree transplanting machine.

“With the import of this machine the small and grown-up trees will not be cut or uprooted manually. Now we will be able to save the trees by shifting and transplanting them other places scientifically,” PHA Director-General Mian Shakeel said.

He asked the field staff to use the machine carefully and ensure protection of trees by all means.

He also thanked the foreign experts for imparting training to the PHA field staff.

BEAUTIFICATION: A joint team of the City District Government, LDA, PHA and the traffic police has been tasked with preparing a comprehensive plan to beautify Lahore by visiting various roads, spots etc, on Friday (today).

The team will first visit the Jail Road and Gulberg’s Main Boluevard and explore various options in this regard. The team members will also visit Thokar Niaz Beg, The Mall and other roads.

“The team members will engage different departments for removing construction debris, covering diggings, open wires, etc, on Jail Road and Gulberg’s Main Boulevard first and then submit a proposal to beautify other places,” Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal said while presiding over a meeting of the Khubsoorat Lahore Project here on Thursday.

Walled City Authority director-general Kamran Lashari said the team should involve the local community while launching various works related to the beautification of city.

DENGUE: Every effort should be made to regular surveillance of the dengue larvae, said Labour and Human Resource Department secretary Sohail Shehzad while chairing an anti-dengue meeting of Ravi Town in TMA Office here on Thursday.

He said the monitoring of field activities played a key role in making effective the anti-dengue campaign.

PFA: The Punjab Food Authority teams on Thursday sealed various eateries, restaurants, etc for flouting hygiene standards and rules/regulations.

According to a spokesman, the premises sealed included Azhar Chiniot Pakwan Centre, Abdullah Catering, Chinioti Pakwan, Subhani Store, Qasim Store, Ghazi Hotel, Mughal Store, Ijaz Bakers, Hasnain Pan Shop, Guddo Pan Shop and Sufi Food Shop.

The teams also imposed fines and issued improvement notices to Abdul Jabbar Milk Shop, Sharif Ice Factory, Masoomi Restaurant and Hafiz Sweets.
