Polio eradication drive starts on 26th

ISLAMABAD: A polio eradication drive will start on September 26 and a meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters to review the progress and arrangements for the upcoming campaign.

The meeting was attended by Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Sheikh Ansar Aziz, the Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Ayesha Raza, the chief officer metropolitan corporation Islamabad (MCI), director general health MCI, Islamabad deputy commissioner, UNICEF and WHO representatives and senior CDA and MCI officers.

During the meeting, the mayor said that in order to make the campaign a success, all CDA and MCI formations have been asked to coordinate with the Health Services Directorate. He said additional human resource, machinery and vehicles will be provided to the directorate and that the director security has been asked to deploy CDA security staff along with Islamabad police to provide the teams with security.

He added that private educational institutes have also been asked to cooperate during the campaign to ensure every child in the federal capital is administered the vaccination.
