CHARSADDA: The local police on Wednesday arrested an alleged militant and recovered hand grenades and a pistol from his possession.

The outlaw was planning to blow up Khyali Bridge, SHO Imran Khan told a press conference. He said on the directives of DPO Suhail Khalid a police team arrested a suspected man from the bank of Khyali Bridge. A pistol was recovered from him, he said, adding later two hand grenades were recovered under the bridge on the information of the alleged terrorist.

He said the DPO had got information that terrorists were planning to carry out terrorist activities in Charsadda district.

The detained terrorist identified as Abdul Salam was wanted to police and security forces in various terror acts, targeted killings, kidnappings and other crimes of heinous nature.
