LARKANA: Students of different batches of the MBBS in Chandka Medical College (CMC) boycotted classes, and locked the administration block and lecture halls on Friday in protest against not promoting 25 students to the next class in the recent result.

Routine office work remained suspended during the day and regular classes were not held.

In the lead of Hussain Chandio, Mehran Magsi and others, they held a demonstration on the college premises and chanted slogans after gathering at the main gate, blocking the way.

The criticised the college management for “deliberately” failing the students despite an “assurance by the vice-chancellor”. “They have ruined our one precious academic year,” they said. The protesters complained that instead of resolving the issue, Principal Prof Sher Muhammed Shaikh avoided negotiations.

DSP Yar Muhammed Rind reached the college, talked to the protesting students and convinced them to clear the main campus gate. Later, they held a sit-in outside the VC secretariat and staged.
