PESHAWAR: At least 11 militants were killed as a result of a joint aerial and ground operation in different parts of Khyber Agency, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
A statement issued by the ISPR said eight militant hideouts were also destroyed during the operation, which was conducted in Babar Kachkol, Toor Sapar and adjoining areas of Khyber Agency.
This claim, however, could not be independently verified as journalists do not have access to most parts of the restive agency.
Khyber and North Waziristan are among Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border, rife with homegrown insurgents and foreign militants.

This is the right strategy to tackle terrorism and foreign funded terrorists.Our tribal areas can become peaceful only if Pakistan Army and FC are permanently deployed there like on the Eastern border.It also entails that FATA's infrastructure and human resources are developed and given top priority.The policy of 'outsourcing' Pakistan's security to the populace need to be abandoned as it's the sole responsibility of Security and defence agencies.However,our defence capability need to be enhanced further.

Boasting on the rising number of killing is not the permanent solution to the problem unless the root causes of terrorism are identified and remedial measures are taken for their treatment. The main causes of terrorism lie in the political & social injustices; obsolete education system; unemployment; rampant corruption, ethnicity and unpopular domestic and foreign policies.

Many times these groups can only be spotted from the air. Villagers are afraid to give them up. That's why many villagers fled.
