LAHORE: The girl, who was found shot dead in a five-star hotel, had committed suicide, reveals police investigation.

Rabia Naseer, 22, of Batapur, was found dead in the washroom of the hotel on The Mall on July 29. The CCTV footage showed that the girl entered the lobby attending a phone call and went to the washroom, where she was found dead after some time.

A senior police investigator told Dawn that the girl had committed suicide when a man refused to marry her. He said according to mobile data recovered from the girl’s phone, she made the last call to the man before killing herself.

The officer said the man, who is a government official, was contacted and he later approached police and recorded his statement. He said the man told police that Rabia had called him to the hotel but he refused to come after which she had taken the extreme step of committing suicide.

The police officer said they were also investigating from where the girl purchased the pistol and bullets.
