KARACHI: Pakistani quartet were through to the last-64 round after registering convincing victories over their opponents in the last-96 knockout round of the IBSF 6-Reds snooker championships in the Egyptian city of Sharm-el-Sheikh on Wednesday.
Pakistan No 2 Sohail Shehzad chalked up a commendable 4-0 victory over Hong Kong’s Man Hoi Leong (33-1, 42-2, 52-2, 37-29).
Pakistan No 3 Asjad Iqbal also surged into the next round while coasting to crushing 4-0 victory over Egyptian Mohamed Essam (44-13, 36-28, 34-1, 39-7).
Joining them in the last-6 4 round were national champion Mohammad Bilal and winner of the second ranking event and top seed Babar Masih. The former sent Egyptian Mohamed Abdelmoniem packing 4-2 (68-0, 0-51, 64-2, 61-4, 31-35, 39-32) while the latter disposed of UAE’s Mohamed Shehab 4-1 (36-6, 38-36, 6-38, 52-0, 37-12).
