COAS meets Egyptian leaders

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif met the Egyptian defence minister and chief of staff on Monday after reaching Cairo on a two-day visit.

Bilateral military relations, augmentation of defence and security cooperation and collaboration, and training exchanges were discussed during the meetings.

Both sides vowed to synergise all efforts and resources to fight and eliminate terrorism.

The Egyptian leaders expressed special interest in benefiting from the Pakistan Army’s experience in all facets of fighting terrorism, including countering improvised explosive devices.

According to a tweet by Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lt Gen Asim Bajwa, the COAS was presented a guard of honour at the Egyptian army headquarters.
