COAS & Gilani

Published July 23, 2016

THIS refers to the news report ‘Gilani thanks Raheel for help in his son’s freedom’ (July 12). Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani along with his son Ali Haider Gilani met the army chief ostensibly to offer gratitude for recovering his son.

It is improper for the army chief to give an appointment and talk to controversial political leaders as this can be construed in a different way.

This is especially true in this case, as Mr Gilani has been accused of massive corruption, being the central figure in the multi-billion rupees TDAP scam.

Military leaders should have a sense of propriety and avoid mingling with politicians as this leads to speculations and tarnishes their image.
