ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday issued arrest warrants for Kamran Kayani, brother of former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, who is wanted in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) scam.

According to a copy of the notice acquired by DawnNews, Chairman NAB has given a green light to issue the arrest warrant.

The NAB headquarters have dispatched the warrants to Director General (DG) NAB Rawalpindi and Inspector General Punjab.

The warrant opined that Kamran is wanted in DHA scam case.

DG NAB has been ordered to investigate the breach of contracts with DHA Lahore and Islamabad, the suspension of required land, and selling of plot files after securing a remand from the courts.

Kamran has been accused of causing Rs20 billion worth loses in various DHA projects.

NAB has already arrested two army officials and the chief executive officer of Kamran's company.

Despite NAB's notice, Kamran, who is abroad, has not presented himself for the investigation.

Earlier in February, the name Pervaiz Kayani surfaced for the first time in connection with a massive land scam, when a former official from DHA, retired Lt Col Tariq Kamal, asked NAB to investigate whether Gen Kayani was involved in “irregularities/misappropriation” related to DHA Valley contracts or whether “his name was used by the decision makers just to benefit Bahria Town”.
