LAHORE: Security personnel in Maryam Nawaz’s protocol on Friday harassed Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Imran Khan’s sister and her family in the Gulberg-III area of Lahore, said Khan’s sister, Uzma Khan.

“Dr Uzma Khan, along with her children, was on her way to Friday prayers when an Elite force vehicle stopped her car and misbehaved with her,” alleged Khan’s nephew, Hasan Niazi.

He added the security vehicle was coming wrong way down the thoroughfare.

“The security personnel also pointed their guns at the family,” said Niazi.

Khan's sister, Uzma Khan, said she will not be registering a First Information Report (FIR) as "it is of no use".

"Are people who do not have protocol and security details not worth anything?"

She also said policemen beat her sons at the very same place a year ago, and added the police had filed charges against her sons and harassed them instead of taking action against their own colleagues.

Model Town’s superintendent of police, Ammara Athar, said the incident has not been reported to the police yet.

“Appropriate action will be taken if the incident is reported to the authorities,” said the SP.

However, PML-N's official Twitter account posted a tweet which claimed Maryam Nawaz is in Islamabad.

In 2015, two nephews of Imran Khan, were arrested from Lahore's Race Course area after they allegedly hurled abuses at a traffic warden who stopped them for violating traffic rules.

The two were released on bail with a surety bond of Rs 50,000 each, as their lawyer claimed all sections are bailable offenses.

The lawyer had further alleged that the accused were tortured while in police custody. A magistrate had ordered a medical examination to verify the claims.
