KARACHI: Inspector general of Sindh police A. D. Khowaja on Sunday ordered the police to take extraordinary security arrangements for Yaum-i-Ali on Monday (today) to avert any eventuality.

The provincial police chief directed all DIGs and SSPs to ensure foolproof security steps for all Majalis and processions, particularly in Karachi and generally in whole of Sindh.

According to the police report, there would be a total of 834 Majalis to be held in different districts of Karachi, while 122 processions would be taken out from different areas.

A police spokesperson said that over 9,630 extra policemen would be deployed for security of processions and Majalis apart from SSPs, SPs, DSPs and SHOs of police stations concerned who would also perform security duties.

The police spokesperson said that reasonable arrangements had also been made to ensure security for over 650 Imambargahs located in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad where Majalis would be held and processions would be taken out on Yaum-i-Ali.

The IGP issued directions to police officers for deployment of police at entry and exist points of Karachi and at provincial borders.
