LONDON: England’s all-time leading wicket-taker Jimmy Anderson is a doubt for the upcoming Test series with Pakistan, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Saturday.

The 33-year-old — who has 454 Test wickets to his name — has a shoulder blade injury which he suffered in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month.

He is definitely going to miss the next two county championship matches with the first Test of the four match series beginning on July 14 at Lord’s.

“Jimmy Anderson has sustained a stress fracture in the right shoulder blade, which he sustained in the third Test match against Sri Lanka at Lord’s earlier this month,” read the statement.

“Due to the nature of the injury, Jimmy’s availability for the Pakistan Test series, commencing on July 14, will be determined following ongoing management and review by both the ECB and Lancashire’s medical teams.”
