PPP disowns Hussain Haqqani

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People's Party on Friday disowned former Pakistan ambassador to the US, Hussain Haqqani.

PPP spokesperson Farhatullah Babar, in a statement, said his party does not agree with Haqqani's opinion or analysis and connecting his work with the PPP is wrong.

Reacting to the PPP spokesperson's statement, Hussain Haqqani, in a series of tweets said he is glad and he can now focus on research and writing without having to worry about ties to the PPP or its policies.

"Political parties cannot be expected to own scholarly research or analysis just as scholarly work cannot be constrained by party policies," said the former diplomat.

He, however, reminded PPP about his services to the party by saying that he joined the party's slain leader Benazir Bhutto in 1993 and stood by her and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari in tough times.

"That political contribution to Pakistani politics is sufficient," said Haqqani.

Haqqani is supporting Pakistanis all along however not Pakistani establishment. Pakistanis need to realize that unfortunately the interest of the establishment and common Pakistanis are at odds with each other. As an example, stance on Kashmir and anti-India stance is important to the establishment so they can procure 50%+ of Pakistan's budget but for a common Pakistani, law and order, bijli, pani is much more important. (If I remember correctly, that is less than 5% of the budget).

Haqqani has views against pak establishment for a long time and is open about it.He has written so many books on it.Even if we accept his views. There is no reason to openly condemn the state and army in indian tv channels and public forums in usa when we now have a democratic set up working, it is just too much.He is recently publicly talking against pak kashmir policy in indian media and the jr zardari is trying to champion the kashmir cause.PPP not only owned him but used him as a tool to lobby against the pak establishment in washington for a long time.He was ppp ambassador to the usa.Now suddenly farhatullah babar can not just say that we do not agree with him.What Haqqani is saying are his views for the last 30 years.

If you are really that smart,than think of Pakistan, unfortunately in the past people of Pakistan were not happy with your coverups of yours PPP allegiance. Anyways if your soul turns better,and you feel to deliver some of your energy for Pakistan interest,you can surely do it, no doubt you are a genius.

@Sane haqqanis view is not the world view and it may be your imagination if you think he is right....if he is showing the mirror then he should have stayed in the country during his trial but he chose to ran away which is enough to prove his guilt.

@PakCanuck . Where did you get this story? What aid that forms Pakistan's 50% budget? What sort of education are you given in India? Obviously, an Indian with your mind will love Haqqani. You do like to use any means that can harm Pakistan. Don't bank on Haqqani, he has other professions to take care of. Besides, Pakistanis have found him out.
