Mohammad Amir is future of Pakistan cricket, says Wasim Akram

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram praised pacer Mohammad Amir and termed him to be the 'future of Pakistani cricket.'

Talking to a private news channel on Monday, Wasim said, "Amir is a brilliant bowler and the future of cricket in the country."

Wasim also revealed the advice he had granted to Amir. “I told Amir to focus on only one thing; cricket. Leave everything else.”

Amir made an international comeback earlier this year during Pakistan's tour of New Zealand after he was banned from cricket for five years when he bowled deliberate no-balls for money.

The left-arm pacer donned Pakistan colours in the Asia Cup T20 and ICC World T20 this year. He has been drafted in the 17-man squad for the upcoming tour of England.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hopeful that the 24-year-old will be granted a visa by the British immigration authorities this week. .

Im concerned that his frail body, lack of some pace and PK over reliance on him will severely hurt him. Kinda like Misbah had to bail opening batters collape game after game after game. At least if good ol Ajmal was there, it would provide a 1-2 punch.

More than Amir, the imminent catastrophe staring Pakistan cricket is the retirement of Younis and Misbah, possibly in mid 2017. Pak test batting will crumble like nine pins. Not very different from SL after Mahela and Sanga . SL do have home tests to conjure up some wins, Pak won't have even that luxury. You can check UAE tests in the last 7 years since 2009. 90 pc tests that Pak won were due to Misbah or Younis or both. (Batting wise). Plus Ajmal isn't there too.

Only Amir can't win matches alone, Wahab has to start performing too. Wahab is an unsolved problem. Since the day Wahab bowled that famous spell to Watson, he never bowled on good lengths again. He goes on bowling bouncers and gets hit for fours and sixes but he is not ready to change his approach.

He is a talented player but he needs support from the other end - Junaid khan would had been better with Wahab Riaz as first change (or dropped!) Anyways, doesn't really matter what the bowlers do as batting is going to fail in English / Aussie conditions with even mighty Misbah and Younis in the lineup - even our best batsmen failed in the past so better not to expect much from this lot
