PESHAWAR: Students have been asked not to get disconnected with their studies during the summer vocations as it would be difficult for them to get back on track after three months.

“Some students take the summer vocations for granted which affects their education adversely. The students should continue their studies in the vacations as well,” Hafiz Farooq Ali, principal, University Public School, University of Peshawar, stressed, while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a three-day prize distribution ceremony on Saturday.

Mr Ali said the three-month vacations was a blessing for students to prepare for examinations, and warned parents against letting their children discontinue studies during the period.

On the occasion, students were awarded trophies and certificates for standing first, second and third in the annual examination, 2015-16.

“The intelligent students are source of inspiration for their classmates who must try their level best to grab positions in the following year,” he said.

Education instilled in students professionalism, dynamism and hard work, he maintained.

Groups of students presented tableaus, skits, national songs, naats and national anthem and received applause from the participants.

Luqman Hakim, a student, delivered a speech titled ‘knowledge is power’, and recounted the achievements and inventions made by the Muslim scientists, and urged his fellow students to focus on their studies to be able to become successful in future.

Prof Nauman, a former head of the department of education and research, University of Peshawar, who was chief guest, said: “Teachers should do hard work on their students to help them achieve success in their practical lives.

We should strengthen the country’s defence by giving quality education to students, he stressed.

“The education should be an amalgamation of worldly things and Islamic teachings and both the parents and teachers have the responsibility on this,” he said.

Summer vacations are a golden opportunity for the students to enhance their knowledge through hard work, Prof Nauman said, urging parents to focus on the well-being of their children and prevent them from indulging in unhealthy activities.
