KARACHI: Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari on Friday visited a dispensary and a heatstroke centre to administer polio drops to children and review Sindh’s preparedness to possible heatwave with the holy month of Ramazan round the corner, officials said.

“Pakistan is getting more international support to eradicate polio than the support from our own federal government,” Aseefa tweeted after visiting a dispensary in Soldier Bazaar.

She inquired about the pace of ongoing polio campaign in the area and administered polio boosters to children in the health facility. She also distributed gifts among children.

She was accompanied by high commissioner of the United Arab Emirates as she confirmed on her official twitter account.

“Accompanied by UAE HC vaccinated children from #Polio today in #Khi. Glad #Sindh had a successful campaign special thanks to Sindh police &SSU.”

“Eradication of polio in the nearest future is vital for Pakistan and we are trying to achieve this goal,” she told reporters. “We’ll get rid of this virus very soon,” she said.

Later, Ms Bhutto visited some relief camps along with the UAE high commissioner who, she said, had donated water bottles to Karachi, which the Sindh government had distributed among 600 heat relief camps set up across the city.
