KHUZDAR: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-Mengal) president Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal has said that Baloch people are not against development and progress, but are not ready to support progress that kills their children for lack of potable water.

Speaking at a public meeting in Kalat town on Wednesday evening, he said that the rulers did not love the people of Balochistan and only wanted to loot and plunder the province’s wealth and resources.

He said that the BNP-Mengal was struggling for the rights of Baloch people and would not compromise on it. “The party has rendered sacrifices in the past for the protection of resources and rights of the people of Balochistan and will not hesitate to do so in future,” he said.

Referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Sardar Mengal said that new conspiracies were being hatched in the province in the name of CPEC to loot and plunder the resources of the people of Balochistan.

In Balochistan, he said, parents are still waiting for the bodies of their loved ones to be brought home. He said they were loyal to the nation and country, but when they demanded their rights, they were labelled as traitors.

He said that the rulers shied away from making public the report on mutilated bodies. “They should be ashamed of this report,” he said.

Others who spoke at the public meeting include Agha Hassan, Sajid Tareen, Agha Lal Jan Baloch, Agha Musa Jan Baloch, Mire Hamal Kalmati, Nasir Ali Shah, Manzoor Hussain Langove and Abdul Rauf Mengal.
