UPPER DIR: Khwendo Kor, an NGO, has distributed cheques worth Rs7.1 million to government girls’ schools and community organisations in Brawal tehsil for rehabilitation of infrastructure, construction of additional rooms, water supply, etc.

District nazim Sahibzada Fasihullah was the chief guest on the occasion. Khwendo Kor provincial director Khaild Usman, district education manager Saeedullah, education department officials and tehsil nazim Jehan Alam were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Fasihullah said that development of the district was his priority. He said that they were working to increase literacy rate by especially promoting female education. He claimed that they had designed a 10-year plan for the district through which they would try to enhance the quality of education in government schools.

The district nazim said that apart from education they were also making efforts to provide basic facilities in the health sector. He said that they were trying to end the shortage of doctors and other staff in hospitals across the district.

He praised the NGO for providing funds to the schools in Brawal tehsil for rehabilitation of infrastructure. He assured it cooperation for the betterment of schools in the district.

Mr Alam said that schools in remote areas of the tehsil should be selected for provision of missing facilities there.
