The Pakistan Cricket Board has sought the financial estimates from Sri Lanka Cricket to host the West Indies later this year in October.

As reported by ESPNCricinfo, the PCB is pondering over to use Sri Lanka as their home venue for the two Tests, three ODIs and a Twenty20 against West Indies due to the high playing costs in the United Arab Emirates.

"We are concerned about rising costs of hosting matches in the UAE, and if Sri Lanka is significantly cheaper then we shall consider it as an option," a PCB spokesman told ESPNcricinfo.

SLC secretary Mohan de Silva also confirmed the PCB's approach: "Yes, they have approached us. We will put the budget together and send it back to them. It will depend on whether it is a financially viable option for them to host a series here."

However the weather could be an issue if the PCB opts for Sri Lanka. The country is usually hit by the monsoon in the months of October and November.

In the aftermath of the Sri Lankan cricket team attack in Lahore that killed seven policemen, including a traffic warden and injured six Sri Lankan team members, Pakistan has been hosting the international cricket teams in the UAE.
