Following Sri Lanka, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) too, agreed in principle to a proposal from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to implement a points system for their upcoming tour which kicks off later this summer.

The suggestion was presented to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) earlier this month ahead of their tour to England in May and June.

The proposal came in after a successful implementation of the points system for the last three Women’s Ashes series.

Pakistan kick off their England tour with the first Test scheduled on July 16, which will be followed by three more Tests, five ODIs and a one-off T20I.

According to the idea suggested by the ECB, four points should be available for each Test win and two each for the limited overs matches.

This would match the total points that were up for grabs during the last Women’s Ashes which Australia won by a four-point margin.

The Pakistan-England Test series will make available a total of 16 points for both the teams.

However an ECB spokesman confirmed to ESPNCricinfo that the new idea is still in a phase where it’s taking shape.

“We have received an agreement in principle from the boards of both Sri Lanka and Pakistan and will release further details of the proposal in due course,” he said.
