PESHAWAR: Senate of the University of Peshawar has approved establishment of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, Department of Criminology and Department of Tourism and Hotel Management in the university.

The Senate met here on Wednesday with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, who is chancellor of the varsity, in the chair, said an official statement. A five-member committee was set up to formulate a strategic management plan for the university and submit its report in three months.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Jhagra stressed on quality of education and research. He said there was a need to be more focused on introducing demand-oriented disciplines.
