MINGORA: Swat police arrested on Sunday a minority leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in connection with the murder of PTI MPA Sardar Soran Singh.

Malakand division DIG Azad Khan told Dawn that Baldev Kumar was arrested in Barikot tehsil of Swat and shifted to an unspecified place for interrogation.

Baldev Kumar is president of PTI minorities’ wing in Swat and a district councillor.

On Saturday night, Buner police took into custody four suspects during a search operation a day after Singh’s murder.

Soran Singh, who was also special assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on minority affairs, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Buner on Friday.
