LAHORE: A group of 100 students from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, visited various military units and formations of the Pakistan army at the Lahore Garrison.

A day-long programme was specifically organised to enlighten students on routine functioning of the army, its organisation and defence capability. A programme ‘Know your Army’ has been exclusively initiated for the youth on the instruction of Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif.

The programme started with wreath-laying ceremony and dua at Yadgar-i-Shuhada, followed by a demonstration by the Quick Response Force. The students also visited an infantry and armour battalion and witnessed arms and equipment display, including small arms fire.

The programme culminated at a flag ceremony at the Ganda Singhwala border check-post, Kasur. The smart turnout and bearing combined with immaculate drills by Rangers troops amidst charged crowd further added to the enthusiasm and feelings of patriotism of students.

They evinced keen interest and commended the great sacrifices rendered by army officers and troops in the ongoing war against terror.

They applauded the state of morale, commitment and professional competence of the army and thanked the army chief for providing them a lifetime experience and opportunity.
