QUETTA: Two suspected militants were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Saruna area of Kalat district on Friday.

Official sources said personnel of Frontier Corps and intelligence agencies were conducting a search operation on information about the presence of militants in the area when the militants started firing on them.

The FC and intelligence personnel returned fire and the ensuing gunbattle lasted two hours, resulting in the death of two militants.

“The militants killed in the gunbattle belonged to the banned militant organisation Lashkar-i-Balochistan,” a spokesman for the FC claimed.

He said that arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
