SAHIWAL: A 26-year-old man shot dead his two sisters in a village on Tuesday night, apparently in the name of “honour”, police said on Wednesday.

They said Mohammad Asif had murdered his mother about four years ago, also in the name of “honour”.

A witness said that Asif went to his house late in the night and shot dead his sisters — Faiza, 23, and Surayya, 22. He then fled the scene.

According to a police official, the motive behind the double murder seemed to be honour.

The bodies were moved to a hospital for autopsy.

Police registered a case against the suspect on a complaint filed by the victims’ uncle Noor Samad.

According to villagers, the suspect’s father, Mohammad Ashraf, has been living in Dubai for the last 30 years. He had two sons and two daughters.

He had recently called Asif to Dubai and got him a job. Asif had returned to his village a week ago.

The villagers said that about four years ago police had arrested Asif for killing his mother. But he was set free after his father pardoned him.
