KARACHI: The 35th Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Open Golf Championship is scheduled to be played at the impressive Airmen Golf Course PAF Base, Korangi Creek from Feb 11-14, the organisers announced at a press conference here on Monday.
Group Captain Sabih Wali-ur-Rehman, heading the press briefing, said more than 300 professional and amateur golfers from all over Pakistan will be competing in the higgh-profile championship which carries a bumper prizemoney of Rs4 million.
Various categories including professionals, amateurs, veterans, master and ladies will be contested in the event. The championship will continue for four days and 18 holes will be played each day.
CAS Open Golf Championship, being the flagship Championship of Pakistan Air Force, was introduced in 1977 and ever since has been an annual feature in PGF and PAF annual sports calendars.
This year the opportunity to host has again been given to AGC for consecutive fifth time.
Later, Sabih Wali welcomed the media and appreciated their support in promoting golf in the country.
