ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control on Friday presented the names of 61 proscribed organisations that have been banned from carrying out activities in the country.

The following are names of the banned outfits along with dates of their proscription, as submitted by the ministry in the Senate.

The House was told that two organisations, Al-Akhtar Trust and Al-Rashid Trust, were listed under "UNSCR 1267," while Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) was under observation since Dec 1, 2005.

Minister of State for Interior Balighur Rehman said any organisation found to be involved in terrorism and extremism activities would not be allowed to operate in the country.

He said that under the National Action Plan (NAP), the ministry and provincial governments had taken appropriate measures to stop banned outfits from re-emerging with new names.
