TAXILA: A man shot his sister dead on Tuesday in New Gulistan Colony I, under the limits of Wah Cantonment Police Station, allegedly because she voted in the local bodies elections.

According to the police, the family of the deceased has said that Danish had forbidden his sister Asifa, who was the principal of a local school, from voting. Not paying heed to his warnings, Asifa went to her native Sarai Kharboza near Tarnol to vote on Monday.

The next day, after heated arguments between the two siblings, Danish shot his sister and then fled from the scene.

The police have handed the body over to the family after an autopsy at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. The Wah Cantonment Police have registered a case against the accused and have started further investigations.
