LARKANA: Speakers at the ‘Latif kuchehri’ held at the Larkana Arts Council on Tuesday night said the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai touched almost all aspects of life and also finely portrayed the time and psyche of people.

They underlined the need for deep and minute understanding of the global message of the Sufi poet in Shah jo risalo.

The event was organised in coordination with the Sindhi Adabi Sangat.

Larkana Commissioner Ghulam Akbar Leghari told the audience that Bhitai had a deep insight into folk wisdom. Endowed with deep observation, he encompassed events and ideas in a fine way. He said translating viewpoint of Bhitai was an art of the highest standard.

Saleem Latifi, who has extensively worked on Bhitai’s poetry and written research books, said: “We should not measure or weigh Shah’s poetry and thoughts with our inadequate analytical approach.”

Kalpna Devi, chairperson of the Larkana Hindu Panchayat Committee, also highlighted various aspects of Bhitai’s philosophical poetry.
