ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to recover Rs16.3million from four officials, and has halted their increments, for committing embezzlement in the collection of entry fees to the Lake View Park.

CDA chairperson Maroof Afzal, in light of an inquiry report, on Wednesday ordered the stoppage of increments of four officers for their involvement in corruption in the collection of entry fees to the park.

According to the notification, which is available with Dawn, the officials involved are former parks directors Khalid Malik and Asif Majeed, parks manager Mohammad Zubair, and former parks deputy director Irfan Azeem Khan.

Mr Afzal ordered the stoppage of increment for one year of three of the officials, and ordered the demotion of Mr Azeem as well as the stoppage of three increments for his role in the corruption.

Mr Afzal ordered an inquiry against eight officials last year for their alleged involvement in violating rules while collecting entry fees from citizens.

CDA spokesperson Ramzan Sajid said: “I have no knowledge of the specific inquiry, but the authority will not spare anyone found guilty of corruption.”
