PESHAWAR: A hand-grenade was thrown into the house of a customs official in Banamari area on Friday, but it did not cause any casualties.

According to police, unidentified people attacked the house of Mohammad Rafiq, an inspector in the customs department.

Mr Rafiq told reporters that he had been receiving threatening calls from some unidentified people demanding extortion money and he had informed the police about.

Police combed the area after the incident, but no arrest was made.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested an Afghan national allegedly involved in the killing of a deputy superintendent of police.

Israr alias Landay was involved in the bomb attack in which DSP Rasheed Khan was killed in 2011. The militant was also involved in similar attacks on police vans.
