E-libraries

Published November 9, 2015

THIS refers to the letter ‘Libraries badly needed’ (Oct 28). Because of a dearth of good libraries, I would like to call upon the relevant people to opt for e-libraries.

The library would offer the e-version of the reading material to all those having a membership for a fixed time say 30 days, after which the material will be withdrawn from the reading portal of the members. The readers should be allowed to quote the reading material as reference and cop the relevant text.

In order to generate resources for the library, mandatory membership for all government servants should be introduced.

The library, in turn, should have publishing houses to obtain the e-use of the reading material. Such libraries will be of great use to the public as these could save time, cost and energy.
