ABBOTTABAD: Degrees and medals were awarded to 650 graduates of the Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad, in various disciplines at the 79th and 80th annual convocations held here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rector Dr Syed Mohammad Junaid Zaidi asked the graduating students to serve the country with professional zeal.

He emphasised the role of youth in nation building and advised them to be positive and have self belief to achieve higher goals.

He also thanked Pak Army for supporting the institute in its endeavours to improve standard of higher education in Pakistan.


650 awarded degrees at Comsats Institute’s convocation


Rabia Abid, who represented the graduating students, in her speech lauded the CIIT in imparting quality education.

Arooj Qureshi from the BSc in Electrical (Electronics) Engineering, who received 3.68CGPA, was awarded campus gold medal, Syeda Hebba Baber Hamdani with 3.65CGPA received campus silver medal and Haroon Ahmed with 3.63CGPA was awarded campus bronze medal, respectively.

Asmatullah Khan from BSc in Electrical (Power) Engineering with 3.67CGPA received campus gold medal and Atif Mursaleen with 3.61CGPA got campus silver medal.

Saad from BSc in Computer Science with 3.85CGPA got campus gold and institute bronze medals. Usman Afzal Khan with 3.55CGPA and Usman Iqbal with 3.52CGPA received campus silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Mohammad Anwar from BSc in Telecommunication and Networking with 3.54CGPA received campus gold medal.

In the 80th convocation which was held in the evening, 18 students with distinctions were also awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.

Maryam Shah from BSc in Economics with 3.86CGPA received campus as well as the institute gold medals.

Similarly, Faizan Iqbal with 3.83CGPA from BSc in Business Administration received campus gold and institute silver medals.

From BSc in Development Studies Marriam Malik with 3.81CGPA was awarded campus and institute gold medals. Nida Nazir with 3.92CGPA from BSc in Environmental Sciences received campus and institute gold medals.

From BSc in Earth Sciences, Zeeshan Manzoor with 3.84CGPA was awarded campus and institute gold medals.
