National Party leader shot dead in Turbat

QUETTA: Unidentified militants shot dead a local leader of a political party in Balochistan province’s Turbat district on Friday morning.

Levies sources told Dawn.com that Ali Muhammad Baloch, a National Party (NP) leader was killed when two armed assailants opened fire at him outside his residence in Balecha area of Tehsil Tump.

Baloch died on the spot while attackers fled the scene, later Levies personnel reached the spot and shifted Baloch’s body to a nearby hospital.

Balochistan's National Party (NP) is headed by Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and has a total number of 11 seats in Balochistan Assembly.

Balochistan CM condemns the killing

The Spokesman for Balochistan chief minister, Jan Muhammad Buledi, strongly condemned the incident and termed it a conspiracy to destroy the peace of the province.

In the statement, Buledi said NP has decided to observe three days of mourning to mourn the killing of its leader.

Muhammad Ali Baloch was our party's local organiser and a devoted worker, he added.

He said law enforcement agencies were directed by the government to apprehend the culprits behind the murder of Muhammad Ali Baloch.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
