MULTAN: Two-day Dawn in Education Spelling Bee Competition concluded here on Thursday.

As many as 72 students from 24 schools participated in the 15-17 years age group competition.

The students of different schools from Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Vehari, Rajanpur and Jhang participated in the competition.

Maryam Rauf of Multan Public School and College for Girls, Ahsan Shafique of Lahore Grammar School (Senior Branch, Multan) and Haseeb Ahmed of Chenab College, Jhang, were declared winners in the category.

The students in 9-11 and 12-14 years categories participated in the first-day contest on Wednesday.

The event was organised by the Dawn Media Group in partnership with the United States Embassy, Islamabad.

It was conducted by Ms Batul Jafri and adjudged by Ms Asmat Rizwan and Ms Sarwat Jabeen of the Oxford University Press (OUP).

Three students from each group will qualify for Lahore Regional Championship which will be held on Nov 1 in Lahore.
