EDITORIAL: Having failed, by the will of Allah, in their treacherous and cowardly attempt to destroy or damage Pakistan, the barbarous rulers of Bharat are now subjecting the Pakistani troops under their custody, as also the helpless civilians, to extreme barbarity with shameless disregard of the rules of civilised behaviour towards prisoners of war. ...

Horrifying accounts of Indian brutalities on Pakistan’s civilian population have also been narrated by the people driven out by the Indian aggressors from certain areas along the Indo-Pakistan border. ... These tales of torture that are being told by authentic sources surpass all previous records of human cruelty.

The Western friends of India who do not seem to have as yet fully fathomed the treachery and brutality of the puny Hitlers under their patronage would do well to exercise a restraining influence on the ... rulers of India. ... In their impotent rage — that followed the failure of their armed forces to proceed beyond the border-line despite their master’s confident boast — they first bombed ... civilians in cities and towns of Pakistan. The death and destruction thus caused among the civilians in Pakistan [has] been witnessed with horror by the representative of the International Red Cross. ...

But even in their grave distress there was no panic or confusion among the brave people of this country. True to their cowardly characteristics, the frustrated dhoti-clad warriors in retreat have now started inflicting brutal tortures upon the prisoners of war and helpless civilians in order to extract information from them and to quench their bestial passions. Will these cowardly butchers of Bharat go unpunished? The tortures being perpetrated on our troops ... and also on innocent men, women and children — make the blood boil in our veins and unless these criminals desist ... this country will have to retaliate. ...
