HYDERABAD: A group of Chandio tribesmen, enraged over a family member’s murder, allegedly set on fire a house and a motorcycle in Juma Goth on Sunday.

No one was present in the house, belonging to a Jatoi family, when it came under the arson attack, according to police and rescue sources.

SHO Nisar Shah of the Hali Road police station said that 65-year-old Ghulam Rasool Chandio was killed during a clash between two families, one belonging to the Chandio and the other to the Jatoi tribe, in Juma Goth over a petty issue on late Saturday night.

Neighbours said that the Jatoi family had left the house soon after the clash. On Sunday, a group of Chandios attacked the house after funeral of the deceased victim and set it on fire, they said, adding that they also torched the motorcycle parked outside, he added.

The SHO said that five Jatois nominated in the murder FIR were arrested. He identified them as Aqib, Ashfaq, Hussain Bukhsh, Mohammad Hussain and Israr.
