OIC reaffirms Kashmiri people's right to self-determination

UNITED NATIONS: Foreign Ministers of Islamic countries have called for the resolution of the decades-old Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India.
At their annual coordination meeting on Friday, the foreign ministers of 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) adopted the reports of various OIC Contact Groups, including the one on Jammu and Kashmir, which reaffirmed the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister of Kuwait and was attended by foreign ministers of member states and the Secretary General of OIC.
A special feature of this year's meeting was the holding of an emergency meeting on Al-Quds, which adopted a resolution condemning the Israeli incursion into Al-Aqsa mosque, its practices to judaize the city of Al-Quds and calling on the UNSC to take charge of its responsibility to stop these measures.
Addressing the gathering, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, underlined the significance of OIC as a common platform to address the legitimate causes of the Muslim Ummah, including the long-standing disputes of Palestine and Kashmir, the issues of Cyprus, Nagorno-Karabakh, Islamophobia, Rohingyas in Myanmar and the rights of Muslim minorities in non-OIC countries.
On Kashmir, Sartaj Aziz stressed that Jammu and Kashmir was among the oldest unresolved international disputes still lingering on in the UN.
The denial of right of self-determination to Kashmiri people continued to stain the collective conscience of the international community.
"Elections held under foreign occupation could not be a substitute to the exercise of right to self-determination under a UN plebiscite," stated Aziz
Drawing attention to the gross and systematic human rights violations and the serious escalation in cease-fire violations by Indian security forces, Aziz urged the international community to impress upon India to end its repression of innocent Kashmiris and to come to the negotiating table for peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
Aziz regretted that instead of responding to Pakistan's gesture of goodwill, the Indian side was not only interfering in Pakistan's internal matters but was also supporting terrorism inside Pakistan.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan's strong support to the legitimate Palestinian struggle to recover their occupied territories and condemned the recent Israeli attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque complex and urged the UN to act against Israel's breach of this holy Muslim site.
He welcomed the UN resolution of September 10, 2015, which allowed flying of the Palestinian flag at UN Offices throughout the world.

The adviser also highlighted Pakistan's policy on Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, counter-terrorism, UN reforms and support to Rohingya Muslims.

Wishful thinking can make people feel better. OIC countries themselves have no representations from their people and are run by dictators and royal families. The Gulf countries have no elections and they crush dissent with an iron hand. As was seen in Zaid Hamids case, you cannot even speak against them let alone do anything. Highly hypocritical of OIC to talk about representation and self determination. And if we go with history, their success rate with Palestine, Syria, Iraq etc is dismal. Currently, most countries have their interest with India as India can offer many things, which Pakistan cannot. There is no free lunch in the current world. I'm working in Middle East. 80% of real estate sector investors in UAE are Indians. So in other countries. To expel Indians, who form the 80% engineers in Middle East is next to impossible also considering they have huge trade with India.

May be OIC should issue the self determination right for East Turkistan (China's Xianjing province) too? Wouldn't it make sense though? Chinese government in this region shutdown hundreds of mosques, forbids women from wearing head scarves and get a handle on this, forbids men from growing beards. Want more? Chinese government banned public officials, educators and students from fasting during Ramadan and ordered restaurants to remain open. Most of all China has resettled millions of Han Chinese in the region with an intent to alter the Muslim demographics.
What has the 57 OIC members have to say about this? Obviously nothing. If the primary objective of OIC is "liberation of Jerusalem" as it was professed when it was founded, well we all know how it has gone so far. Over the time, twenty out of the 57 OIC nations established diplomatic relationship with Israel. Need we say more about OIC and its relevance?

If every country in OIC boycott India,it will b huge effect.
Only problem now-a-days Iran is taking opposite the role in Saudi(GCC Countries).
Remember in 90's Iran saved India in same Kashmir oic issue and then their friendship become very close.
All the GCC countries cannot spoil relation with India for sake of Pakistan.
I can give you a example: emirates carries 1.67 lakhs passenger per year (60% of indian travel),so if dubai takes opposite its going to loose business.
Right now OIC not much effect on india as there allternative oil sources

Moreover, they are highly divided as to their faiths and rituals (Shias, Sunnis, etc.). So this type of understanding relating to Kashmir issue carries nothing but mere a paper work. Russia is India's oldest partner and India is their biggest market. Biggest Indian businessmen are in Gulf with deep relations with Kings. Iran is where India is investing a billion. Indonesia India just concluded joint exercise of Navy.

Check out IMF and World Bank forecast for India's growth. India is Globally no. 1 in attracting FDI.
Moody's rating for India is amongst the best in the world. The world needs a growth engine and India's time has come.

If you really want to help muslims first help the people of Syria. OIC has not discussed Asylum to Syrians. Only Europe is helping them. Interesting Nobody talking on that & branding themself representative of muslim Rights !!

@Ibrar And I suggest you visit the UN website and learn what the UN resolution says. Most of the Pakistanis have not even read it, but all of them keep talking about UN resolution
