KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh apprehended a suspected target killer Rehan alias Behari during a targeted raid Friday in Surjani Town area of Karachi, according to a press release issued by the paramilitary force.
The press release said that the suspect is a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) sector incharge and has confessed his involvement in incidents of target killing, snatching hides of sacrificial animals and extortion.
Rehan was heading a number of target killing teams in his town which killed police officers and people of rival political parties, said the press release
The suspect is also involved in collecting donations by force, snatching hides of sacrificial animals and land grabbing, said the release.

Rangers personnel had also arrested a suspected murderer from Taiser town area of Karachi on Wednesday.
The statement issued by the Rangers spokesman after the arrest said that the suspect Muhammad Ashiq affiliated with MQM confessed killing party leader Manzar Imam and his guards on January 17, 2013.
Ashiq was also involved in killing 12 other individuals from rival political parties, said the statement, adding that the suspect would dump dead bodies of his victims using a Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation (KKF) ambulance.
The deployment of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, in Karachi is requisitioned under Article 147 of the Constitution, and under Clause 1 of Sub-section 3 of Section 4 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, authorised to prevent the commission of terrorist acts, or scheduled offences in notified area for the punishment of terrorist in accordance with the provision of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
Called in 1989 to assist the police in Karachi by the then PPP-led government amid a deteriorating law and order situation, the Rangers started enjoying more powers in 2009 — again extended by PPP-led governments both in the centre and the province, which allowed the force to search houses and arrest suspects without warrants.

Excellent job. Well done. Now present him in the court of law instead of doing a media trial. Let the court decide who is guilty or not. If guilty punish the accused. By the way Pakistan is beyond urban sindh as well.
Just a reminder all known corrupt PPP leadership is back in urban and are roaming freely. In addition Panjab and KPK are safe heavens for banned outfits. Murderers of model town masacre are still at large and are roaming freely. Billions of rupees corruption has been exposed in Panjab and KPK by PML-N, ANP etc. ministers. Please take action. Fail to understand the delay in taking action in KPK and specially Panjab.

I request please read my comment completely. First I appreciated the effort by saying well done and great job. I continued saying punish them if found guilty in the court of law. There are courts in this country. A person is innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. Stop this media trial of a particular party. In addition even a child can see that this so called accross the board operation is against one particular ethnic group and party. While others are roaming freely.

@Abbas Khan the karachiates are seeing such actions and confessions since 1992, but later when required by the establishment to support a uniformed president, the same party was given a clean chit. Now they are under pressure. You never know what's in the bag of establishnent, but one thing is quite clear ,this operation is not accros the board.

@Sab Se Pehle Pakistan: How do you say that this is a media trial. The accused are not presented on TV channels nor they are photographed. The Rangers have simply shared a news and it is a common practice throughout the world, when any kidnapper, gangster, target killer or terrorist, is arrested or killed, the news is shared with the public. Certainly, those, who have been arrested by Rangers will be presented to the Magistrate and then based on evidence, they will be referred to the competent court for further trial. So, please stop making such unreasonable comments.

There are 2 forms of media. Print media and Electronic media. In addition it is not a common practice around the world to hurl allegations against a nominated political party. Infact LEAs accross the world refrain from making such statements as it is not their job to do such things. In this case LEAs posted in urban sindh and I repeat those posted in urban sindh has become a party against one particular etinic group and political party. Even a child could see that accept those who have "ism" in their hearts.

Watching from outside it does look like operation against one particular group. That particular party may have more ghundas ( as some one suggested ) but that doesnt mean other parties dont have ghunda groups at all. Howcome we havent seen anyone arrested from other party with a " quick " confession ?
It does look very odd. Are target killers only from MQM ?? Very hard to believe.

Interestingly all the LEA cases are based on "Confessions". It seems that no other form of criminal investigation exists in Pakistan. We know our LEA are so efficient, they can tell who is going to commit a crime two days in advance.

@Sab Se Pehle Pakistan .... They must be tried by military tribunals if they are apprehended with military weapons and explosives. Due process in civilian courts should not extend to terrorists or enemies of the state. Military courts do not grant bail, which is what will keep the public safer.

After a decent start to Karachi operation, rangers have unnecessarily made it partisan and partial by the continuous media trial of one party all over the country. Their actions become even more questionable when one notices that a large number of well known racketeers from PPP were given safe passage out of country or being allowed to roam around freely. Like 92 it would be proved that mqm may be down but would never be out.

But still you think it is against only one party. Secondly, it is a common knowledge that 80% of killings, extortion and other such crimes were done by MQM, so how do you want them to balance their efforts?

Do I need a reminder that criminals and gun-lovers are not only in Karachi? recently 9 people were killed in local body Elections in Peshawar (Tribune News, 30 May 2015) due to a free warfare between ANP and PTI workers. But no finger is raised on them and nobody demands a door-to-door operation. When will we see the action against all criminals in the country without any discrimination?
